Plants – Plants growing in the chaparral area have roots systems designed to get as much water as possible. The shallow roots of some of the plants are good at catching water when it rains. Plants with taproots extend in the soil to capture the ground water. Some plants that live in this biome have large hard leaves which hold the water like; Yucca, shrubs, and cacti. Plants in the Chaparral biome usually survive fires.
